Richard is a Solicitor working in the Corporate and Commercial Department.

Richard spent the early part of his career as an area manager for Aldi Stores UK and then as a national marketing manager for Procter & Gamble. This industry experience enabled him to develop his business acumen and to acquire invaluable experience and understanding of the commercial and legal needs of today’s successful businesses.

Richard has extensive experience of the full range of commercial work including contractual agreements and negotiations, IP and brand protection and the sale and purchase of multi-million pound companies. He also works with Peter McCormick in the firm’s Sports practice, which includes advising elite professional sports clubs and associations on a variety of commercial and sporting matters. 

By working closely with our Litigation Team, Richard has broadened his expertise to include Commercial Litigation. He has represented a range of clients across the full spectrum of litigation cases McCormicks handles. This includes the highest profile sports cases and other cases that have received national media attention, in addition to successfully representing our local and regional clients.

Richard graduated with an Honours degree in Psychology from Durham University and subsequently obtained his Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) from the College of Law at York, which included a distinction in his Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
