Thirty runners formed Team Young Achievers to take part in yesterday’s Great Yorkshire Run (Sunday 5 September) to raise funds for the Yorkshire Young Achievers Foundation.
The team completed the 10k course to raise funds for the Foundation, with Andrew Brook-Dobson of running vest sponsors Brook-Dobson Brear the first man home in a time of 43mins 30secs. Taking part in the Junior event were former Yorkshire Young Achiever Youngster of the Year, 11-year-old Jack Marshall, his sister, Jaimie, 16, and ITV Yorkshire Calendar presenter Christine Talbot, running together and again all completing successfully.
The Yorkshire Young Achievers Foundation was founded to mark the 18th anniversary of the Yorkshire Young Achievers Awards, sponsored by McCormicks Solicitors of Harrogate, and raises funds to support young people across Yorkshire. Although, the Awards have raised more than £800,000 in their history this was the first fundraising event for the new charity.
Runners included McCormicks partner Geoff Rogers, Harrogate Hotel du Vin manager Nick Lawson and Yorkshire Post deputy business editor Greg Wright.
Foundation chairman Peter McCormick OBE said: “We want to thank everyone who supported our runners. All the Foundation’s fundraising will be used to help young people in Yorkshire and this is a great first step in the right direction.”
