The search for Yorkshire’s brightest young stars got under way with the launch of the 2011 Yorkshire Young Achievers Awards, sponsored by McCormicks Solicitors of Harrogate.

A reception at Harrogate’s Hotel du Vin was attended by more than 70 sponsors and supporters and saw the presentation of £11,536 to the Yorkshire children’s cancer charity, Candlelighters. The money, part of the proceeds of the 2010 dinner, was given to the charity to help with the purchase of equipment for the children’s cancer unit at Leeds General Infirmary and was presented to Candlelighters Patron Lady Emma Ingilby, by Foundation Chairman, Peter McCormick OBE.
