Experience
Our team of lawyers are all members of Resolution, the association for family lawyers and adhere to the Resolutions Code of Conduct.
Our Specialist lawyers aim to resolve family disputes in a conciliatory way by agreement. We understand that this may not be possible in all cases and we have the expertise and experience to manage cases where Court Proceedings are issued effectively, whilst always understanding our client’s objectives.
We understand that issues involving children must be handled with sensitivity and care. We try to encourage agreement as soon as possible whilst always ensuring the interests of the children are paramount and our client’s arguments and concerns are put forward and addressed. McCormicks has vast experience in dealing with different disputes involving contact, residence as well as disputes involving a Local Authority.
We also provide advice for couples who live together. When cohabitees separate they face similar issues to those of married couples. Our expert team can advise you as to the law relating to your situation which unlike the law relating to married couples remains unclear, with a view to resolving difficulties concerning children/ financial provisions for both children and themselves.
We act on behalf of people who are subjected to domestic violence. We advise our client to act quickly in such circumstances and inform them as to the steps that should be taken to protect themselves and any children involved. We advise our clients in relation to the Court Orders available to prevent further domestic violence and can act quickly in cases where Court intervention is necessary.
